Alonso Cueto, a member of the Real Academia de la Lengua, is one of the most successful Peruvian writers of his generation. His novel El tigre blanco (The White Tiger; 1985, was awarded the Premio Wiracocha, and La Hora Azul (The Blue Hour, 2005) the Herralde prize. This lecture commemorates the publication by William Heinemann/Random House UK of The Blue Hour on 8 June 2012.
