About TOYA GARCIA SENRA:
Toya García Senra intimate works are dynamic, intriguing and very intense. Her work often combines figurative imagery of domestic scenes interspersed with messages, codes and symbolism that seems to appear from nowhere.
There’s harmony and fantasy on her works in the way time, space and figural elements are drawn and placed in her compositions transforming the everyday scenes and landscapes into magical narratives scenarios that may seem familiar and yet hold a sense of mystery and uncertainty.
Stories are evoked through collage and painting. Vital colours, fantasy, typography and incredibly simplicity are aspects of Toya’s distinctive painting style and technique which are evident in these works of beautiful quality.
For Toya, the meaning of her paintings are intimate for her and it is non-transferable and there is exposed to the interpretation of the viewer allowing them to engage emotionally with the work in creating their own story.
Toya Garcia Senra ((b.1955, Vigo, Spain) studied Fine Art at San Fernando School of Arts in Madrid (1981). She has exhibited her work in Spain, Austria, Lithuania and New York.
