Gustavo Dudamel @ 2011 Season classical concerts 27-28/01/2011

Tonight’s conductor, however, comes from the opposite end of a life no less compelling – the 30 year-old Venezualan conductor Gustavo Dudamel, who brings his Los Angeles Philharmonic to the Barbican. Since making his name as winner of the inaugural Gustav Mahler Conducting Competition in 2006, attracting the attention of the likes of Sir Simon Rattle and Claudio Abbado, he has emerged as one of the most inspiring young figures in music making today.
‘Dudamel is the phenomenon who will attract a new generation of fans to classical music.’ The Guardian
