ESPAÑA ON FIRE!!! is back on Sunday 5th of December at Ronnie Scott’s bar 7p.m with lots of music, talent and dueeeende. Don’t miss our last flamenco evening of 2010, adios con el corazón.
LOLA RUEDA and the stage adaptation of her recently released first album “Me imagino…Live”, highly recommended.
Musically it is a seductive mix of flamenco, latin and pop styles. Sometimes her compositions are sensual or provocative, others haunting and longingly sentimental.
Conceived alongside Carlos Otero, the show is the culmination of years of fusing flamenco with just about anything contemporary global culture has to offer. With its wittily subversive take on traditional gender roles and machismo, it includes elements of drag, go-go, mime, cabaret, burlesque and performance art. But most suprising of all is her use of other performers to embody her personal points of view and private desires.
Still, for all its originality and daring, it remains a touching and honest self-portrait of the volatile personality that is Lola Rueda.
-Lola Rueda al cante y al baile
-Carlos Otero al baile
-Toni el Despeinao on guitar
-J.J Rey Vivas al Clarinet, Saxofon
-Demi Garcia on percussion
As GUEST ARTIST we are lucky and proud to have with us two amazing acts:
A fresh and vibrant ensemble that brings new life to traditional and folk music of Spain and Latin America. They present music with honesty, hoping to capture the stories that are told in each song. A repertoire that has a long-standing value through more than fifty years. They focus particularly on COPLAS, a form of traditional music that carries a large significance in Spain. They reflect the passion and dreams of the Spanish people after the Spanish Civil War (1940s), during the dictatorship.
Recent performances include festivals such as City of London Festival and the London Classical Guitar Festival, and venues such as Bolivar Hall, The Forge, or Bishopsgate Institute. They are:
-Jonathan Desbruslais, drums.
-Violeta García, voice and violin.
-Maria Camahort, guitar.
FLAMENCOS DEL NORTE:
Stay tuned to catch “Flamencos del Norte” bringing their best vibe and stunning performance from New Castle. All the members have more than a solid flamenco music background.
