29 October – 23 December 2010
Open daily from 10am – 6pm
Ten more than life-size figures crowd close together and stand as looming shadows behind a young man carrying an older man on his back. This group recalls the tale of Aeneas, who carries his father Anchises from the ruins of Troy, but it also resonates powerfully with present-day issues, particularly the displacement of people.
This exhibition has been organised as part of the Faith Justice City 2010 initiative, a series of sermons and addresses for Advent taking place at St John’s Waterloo, seeking to create connections between the arts, faith, justice and society – generously supported by the Henry Moore Foundation and the Westminster Experiment and Research in Evangelism Trust.
