Vilma Espin was founding president of the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC), a mass organisation in Cuba that fights at all levels for women rights. On Sunday 6 March, to mark International Women’s Day, RATB is screening ‘With Our Memory on the Future’, about the past and present struggle for women’s rights in Cuba.

This documentary was produced by the Federation of Cuban Women (FMC) on the 45th anniversary of its founding. The film examines the progress that Cuban women have made since 1959. Through interviews on the streets, in the workplace, and in schools, attitudes towards women’s equality, sexuality, divorce, children and other questions are frankly discussed.
