Drawing inspiration from childhood memories, Consuelo Radclyffe produces work that explores the fragilities and insecurities of growing up. This exhibition is a collection of ceramic sculptures featuring engaging little characters that play with kites, swings, and skipping ropes and other traditional childhood toys. Their expressions are stark, and often somewhat mutinous, displaying plainly the darker emotions – feelings of rejection and isolation, and cravings for belonging – which usually remain hidden or go unnoticed. Adding an element of reality, Consuelo Radclyffe also incorporates found objects into her clay, wire, and paper works, making each piece personal and unique.
