Día E – A Fabulous Free Family Fiesta celebrating the Spanish language
On Saturday 18th June the Cervantes Institute turns Belgravia’s very English Eaton Square into a Fabulous Spanish Plaza for the day, filling it with concerts, dance shows, food demonstrations, kids activities and much more…
More than 450 million people speak Spanish; the second most spoken language in the world. Inspired by the Cervantes Institute, every year the Saturday nearest to summer solstice is Dia E, a global party hosted by the Institute in 78 cities in 44 countries around the world, from Sidney to Brasilia.
London’s own Dia E fiesta begins at 11 am with childrens’ activities: blowing up and launching the ‘favourite word’ balloons, facepainting, traditional Games, writing on the ‘favourite word’ wall, Tamal (Central American corn pattie) making workshop and puppet shows. From noon there’ll be Jamón cutting and Tortilla making demonstrations and Spanish cheese tasting sessions for those getting peckish.
Whilst you munch the “Spanish Game’ competition will be played (a trip to Andalucia to be won!) whilst a DJ spins Latino tunes. Then the music and dance begins!: three Flamenco/Latin Fusion concerts, and Méxican Dance Show and Flamenco workshop by Sara Olivar
Join us for Spanish fun under the British sun!
Date: Saturday 18th June
Address: 102 Eaton Square, London SW1W 9AN
If you’d like to come to the ‘fiesta’: email firstname.lastname@example.org to say you’d like to come. Do this as soon as possible, as the number of entries is limited by the space in the gardens. You’ll receive a complimentary glass of wine.
