“John Leguizamo is a born showman. The show is slicker than slick – Peter Fitzgerald’s sound and Aaron Gonzales’ projection designs are razor sharp – and Fisher Stevens’ direction never lets the pace drop. This ‘Latino Laurence Olivier’ has the audience eating from his hand from the moment he dances on stage.” Whatsonstage.com
“The staging, blending video clips and picture montages, is exemplary. Leguizamo, moreover, possesses the kind of energy that makes most of his British counterparts look pallid by comparison.” The Times
Multi-faceted performer and Emmy Award winner John Leguizamo is to makes his UK debut in his Broadway hit Ghetto Klown, at Charing Cross Theatre for 17 performances only!
In Leguizamo’s trademark style, Ghetto Klown explodes with energy, leading audiences on a fever-pitch adventure and heating up the stage with vivid accounts of where he’s been and the colourful characters that have populated his life. Leguizamo takes audiences from his adolescent memories in Queens to the early days of his acting career during the outrageous 80s avant-garde theatre scene, and on to the sets of major motion pictures and his roles opposite some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
Ghetto Klown, directed by Fisher Stevens, earned Leguizamo a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Solo Performance, an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Solo Performance and a Drama League Award for Distinguished Performance.
